Safety of the senior citizens is a major concern for their families, more so when they are staying alone and far from friends and relatives. With the passage of time, the senior citizens grow weak physically and become easy targets for criminals. It has been observed that senior citizens are seen as easy to intimidate, and seen as weak and defenseless people in general.
You should ensure their safety at all times by taking a few necessary precautions. It may not be possible for you to be physically present all the time, but you should ensure that they are cared for by trusted people. You can do so by hiring servants, maids or drivers only after proper police verification. Police verification would help you with the background check of the hired staff, and keep you vigilant of their criminal records. You should do this for security personnel and guards too. Make sure to use the door lock alarm, door chains, door phones and other security gadgets as per your need and the incidences of crime in your locality.
In the Urban areas, there is a lack of communication among the residents. At times people are not aware of even their neighbors.
